The shop Vignobles & Chateaux, shown left, is located in the centre of the medieval town of Saint Emilion and offers different options for wine tastings and tours. The staff are French and they all speak perfect English. Wine can be purchased either to take away or to be shipped overseas. They are experts at shipping and costs are very reasonable. Tastings can be arranged, either as part of a wine school or as a private class. This can be extended to a full day with tutored tastings, a lunch, a visit to a top chateau and then back to school to taste more wine. Guests tell us that this last step can be very demanding! http://www.vignobleschateaux.fr/
Shown on the left is a photo of Bruno Delmas leading a group on a tour through the vines. Tours can be on horseback or on foot, with stop-offs at Chateaux. Alternatively they can be less active with tours by car, with Bruno driving. Bruno is a French wine guide who naturally speaks perfect English. Bruno has extensive knowledge of the wine trade and the chateaux and like any good guide has 'ways in' to chateaux not normally available to the public. All our guests have really enjoyed their tours with Bruno and he had an excellent reputation on Tripadvisor. Tragically Bruno died on the 4th May 2015, the best wine guide and a loyal friend.
Alex Hall, very modestly just out of the photo on the left, is an Englishman, who has lived in France for many years and he has worked for many top chateaux and is now an accredited tutor at the Ecole du Vin de Bordeaux. He specialises in tailor-made tours and likes to focus on the people and places behind the wines, which so often show their character in the wines that they make.http://www.bespokebordeaux.com/
Wine tastings can be arranged by guests or by us. Guests should remember that the more famous chateaux normally require advance booking, normally weeks, sometimes months. A wine guide will often be able to obtain entry to chateaux that are not normally open to the public and also provide valuable background information, as well as doing the driving. For those guests who prefer to make their own arrangements please see the page Vineyard Visits.
